I met up with some friends the other day and I was told a love story that I couldn’t stop thinking about.
My friend’s brother had met a girl when he was in his early 20’s and the girl was in her early 20’s too. They started dating and fell in love. When she turned 24, she was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor. Throughout it all, her boyfriend stood by her side throughout every treatment at the hospital and eventually he proposed to marry her and he did marry her when she was in treatment. In his eyes she was worth it. No cancer or illness got in the way of how he felt about her. They kept their hope alive but eventually the tumor spread throughout her body and she died at the young age of 28 years old.
As I was told this story, my eyes started to welt because it really made me think deeply about the people we choose to have in our lives and the people who are worth having in our lives. Life is so delicate. In the dating game, I hear so many stories of people who get scared and run away because they are afraid of their inner feelings when everyone in the relationship is healthy. Then, I hear stories like this and it makes me believe that there is always someone for everyone in any situation. So DO NOT SETTLE. There will always be a person who values you as much as you value yourself and love you as much as you love yourself.
