I was raised by a stay-at-home mother. As I was growing up, she enrolled me in every single activity that exists. She let me experience piano lessons, painting, hip hop dancing, ballet, jazz, singing, gymnastics, drama classes, arts and crafts, she took me to the playground regularly to socialize, and she also took me to fashion modeling auditions. She exposed me to all different activities until I could figure out exactly what I love to do. I grew up having an appreciation and love for the arts because of my mother. She was the first person in my life who gave me a path and guidance.
When I was 14 years old, my mother all-of-a-sudden became a single-mother. I saw first hand, the struggles that a single mother can endure. Throughout her pain, I also saw her resilience, audacity, and fearlessness at the same time. I remember thinking back then that I wanted to help her and take away her pain, but there was only so much I could do. It was during these times when I learned how much a helping hand would truly mean. Through it all, my mother and my grandma Ester continued to teach me the importance of forgiveness, love, and living a life of purpose.
Thank you for teaching me never to be afraid or hold back what is in my heart. Strong women pass on their wings to their little ones.
