White and Gold Nail Art

I like to experiment with different nail art and nail polish colors.  Today I painted my nails gold and white.  To achieve this, I painted all my nails with two coats of the French Tip by Orly.  I let my white nails dry for about 45 minutes.  Then, I took the Luxe color (metallic gold nail polish) by Orly and swiped it across my fingernail as in the picture below.  Enjoy! XOXO

Healthy Sundaes and Milkshakes after my Workout

Every other day, I either get on an elliptical or treadmill for about an hour and a half.  According to the machines, I typically accomplish going 9 miles in 90 minutes. After my workout, I go home and have a “sundae” and “milkshake.”  My version of a sundae and milkshake is the healthy version.

This sundae is a greek yogurt, bananas, and agave syrup. It looks like a delicious scoop of ice cream.  The kale milkshake taste like a vanilla, banana drink.  I don’t taste the kale. The taste of the kale is hidden by the vanilla almond milk, bananas, and agave syrup.  You wouldn’t be able to tell that there is kale in it unless you look at your green colored drink.  These ingredients can be your replacement for ice cream.

These recipes taste sweet, they are healthy,  and they will feed your sugar cravings.  Enjoy! XOXO

These are the ingredients to the yogurt sundae:

1 banana sliced up (as in the picture above) –  $ .19 each at Trader Joe’s

An ice cream scoop of Trader Joe’s Plain Greek Yogurt – $1.99 at Trader Joe’s and the yogurt has no rBST (artificial growth hormones) as stated in the label

Organic agave syrup sprinkled on top –  $3.29 for a bottle of organic agave  at Trader Joe’s

The ingredients to the milkshake are here:

2 cups of organic almond milk – $1.69 at Trader Joe’s

2 cups of organic kale – $2.29 for a large bag of organic kale at Trader Joe’s

1 banana – $.19 each at Trader Joe’s

An ice cream scoop of Trader Joe’s Plain Greek Yogurt – $1.99 at Trader Joe’s and the yogurt has no rBST (artificial growth hormones) as stated in the label

2 table spoons of organic agave syrup – $3.29 for a bottle of organic agave  at Trader Joe’s

Then, put all the ingredients into a blender and press the liquify button.

Lorelai - That yogurt sundae looks like the perfect dessert for me! I love fruit and routinely make various fruit smoothies but will have to try kale. Thanks for sharing!

Jumpers and Childhood Friends

I’ve realized that time can truly tell who your friends are.  I feel blessed to have people in my life who have been there through thick and thin for many years.  One of the blessings in my life is my friend Ramsay.  It is interesting growing up with friends and watching each other grow as people.  Just yesterday, Ramsay and I were friends in high school.  Now, we are both working in the media industry and living in Los Angeles.

Ramsay Williams does wardrobe for major movies.  Some of the various movies and TV shows  she has worked on are: The Muppets, Hereafter, Last Man Standing, Men at Work, J. Edgar, Don’t Trust the B—– in Apt. 23, and the list goes on.  She is also the vintage shopping queen.  The first set of pictures below are pictures of her.  We had a lot of fun styling these jumpers together.  When you click on the pictures, it leads to the Carousels and Lace Boutique where you can purchase the jumper.  I took all the fashion photography of Ramsay, because my other passion is photography.  I work as a photographer too.

Nail Art with Mint Candy Apple and French Tip White

I love experimenting with nail art.  The colors I used were Mint Candy Apple (a light turquoise color) by Essie and French Tip (a white color) by Orly.  These are perfect colors for spring.

First, I painted all my nails with two coats of the Mint Candy Apple and let it dry after 30 minutes.  Second, I took the white nail polish and painted the white sideways across the nail as in the picture.   Enjoy! XOXO

Single People Need to Stop Worrying and Colorful Outfits

Sometimes I feel like we all have a plan in our own minds of how all our futures will turn out.   While we are busy making plans, we believe that we are in total control of where our lives are headed.  We do have free will, but there are other things that can happen that are out of our control.  I have found that the things we cannot control in life are what lead us to where we are supposed to be.

A couple years ago, I was sitting in my friend’s living room as she swore off the thought of ever getting married and having children.  It was only months later when she started dating a new guy.  A year later she called me and told me they were getting married and soon after her marriage, she got pregnant.  I was at the hospital the day she gave birth.  I still remember seeing the look on her face and her husbands face the moment their baby was born.  Every part of their being lit up.  It was a beautiful moment I won’t forget.  In that moment, I realized this was one of the grand plans the universe set up for her life.

As I think back to who she was and who she is now, it is mind boggling to me.  Just a couple years ago, she seemed so sure that she wouldn’t get married or have kids and then poof!  The universe immediately sent her a great guy and a precious baby.  It is human nature to make plans in our minds of how we want the future to turn out, but the universe has a bigger plan for all of us.

As I watch a lot of my friends create families, I have learned that stress and worry are a waste of time, because whatever will be, will be. That’s what makes life so exciting.  We don’t know what is going to happen next.  I see too many people worry about their future, worry about  their jobs, worrying if they will ever get married, and stressing about whether they will have kids, etc.  I have friends who have come to me in times of despair because of relationships that have ended or because their job was cut due to the economy.  As I have observed their lives throughout the years, I have learned that every crisis they have faced has led them to happiness.  Any job that was cut, led them to a better job.  Every relationship that didn’t work, led them to a greater person.  Everything that didn’t work out, opened up their world to new opportunities.

If you are single, unmarried, and have no kids, then you should enjoy your freedom in every possible way. The world is your playground, your life is an adventure, and the rest of your life is still being written.  Enjoy it! XOXO
