Single People Need to Stop Worrying and Colorful Outfits

Sometimes I feel like we all have a plan in our own minds of how all our futures will turn out.   While we are busy making plans, we believe that we are in total control of where our lives are headed.  We do have free will, but there are other things that can happen that are out of our control.  I have found that the things we cannot control in life are what lead us to where we are supposed to be.

A couple years ago, I was sitting in my friend’s living room as she swore off the thought of ever getting married and having children.  It was only months later when she started dating a new guy.  A year later she called me and told me they were getting married and soon after her marriage, she got pregnant.  I was at the hospital the day she gave birth.  I still remember seeing the look on her face and her husbands face the moment their baby was born.  Every part of their being lit up.  It was a beautiful moment I won’t forget.  In that moment, I realized this was one of the grand plans the universe set up for her life.

As I think back to who she was and who she is now, it is mind boggling to me.  Just a couple years ago, she seemed so sure that she wouldn’t get married or have kids and then poof!  The universe immediately sent her a great guy and a precious baby.  It is human nature to make plans in our minds of how we want the future to turn out, but the universe has a bigger plan for all of us.

As I watch a lot of my friends create families, I have learned that stress and worry are a waste of time, because whatever will be, will be. That’s what makes life so exciting.  We don’t know what is going to happen next.  I see too many people worry about their future, worry about  their jobs, worrying if they will ever get married, and stressing about whether they will have kids, etc.  I have friends who have come to me in times of despair because of relationships that have ended or because their job was cut due to the economy.  As I have observed their lives throughout the years, I have learned that every crisis they have faced has led them to happiness.  Any job that was cut, led them to a better job.  Every relationship that didn’t work, led them to a greater person.  Everything that didn’t work out, opened up their world to new opportunities.

If you are single, unmarried, and have no kids, then you should enjoy your freedom in every possible way. The world is your playground, your life is an adventure, and the rest of your life is still being written.  Enjoy it! XOXO
